Seven Reasons Why Three Wheeled Buggies Is Important

Three Wheeled Buggies

Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.

If you are looking for a smooth ride with your baby, opt for models with 360deg front wheels with swivel. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.

Sturdy frame

New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, the symbol of the noughties that were more expensive than common sense, are in rapid decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more flexible and simple to drive, while also looking stylish.

The general idea is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with rough ground and bumpy pavements. With larger wheels front and back makes it easier to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn and a 3 year old and found that it was able to withstand grass, cobbles, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote "it feels sturdy to push and very solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasionally pumping) offer built-in suspension, which was very comfortable for my children.

The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also require it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat, which allows your child to lie flat and face you, while others only allow a parent-facing one.

An excellent option for taking on off-road and muddy walks is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is suitable for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family grows.  lightweight 3 wheel stroller  is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4, and comes with a bumper and raincover, a new 5-point harness, and a huge cushioned seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large storage basket, zip pockets on the hood, and a handy pouch at the rear of seat unit.

Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also allow you to move the pushchair around tight spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have rotating wheels on the front, which help you navigate tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock for increased speed and stability. This is particularly useful when you crash into trees or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air-filled tyres. This means they are able to handle a variety of terrains and are far more flexible than 4-wheeler. They also tend to be lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you will need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.

Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. These buggies, as per MFM's Kath, have larger wheels, which, she says "perform well on grass, gravel roads and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which according to her "smoothes out bumps very effectively".

Buggies with bigger wheels can be quite wide and can be difficult to fit into tight spaces. This can be an issue especially if you're using it to a jogger or to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and about. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to manoeuvre

A three-wheeler can be more comfortable to drive with a child. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable which makes them perfect for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground, with the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed with the way it handled kerbs when using the hand-operated break. It was very stable going downhill or on a rough terrain."

The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's bigger wheels sometimes mean it has to be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to be aware of if you live in a urban region. If this is the case then a 4-wheeled buggy could be the better choice for you.

Bumper bar

Bumper bars protect your child from bumps and scrapes when out and about. They are easy to install, and will make your child feel secure and safe out and about.

This bumper bar is designed to complement the sleek lines on the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface that offers a comfortable place for your child to hold onto while walking. The sling seat is snug inside the frame rather than on top of it like modular seats. It provides the lowest centre of gravity at the right height for your baby and also providing excellent weight distribution for easy kerb pop (it requires less effort to push a buggy up and over a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a great option for running thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a locking swivel wheels.
